Reshaping corporate real estate with data
Committed to achieving a positive impact on the planet and people’s wellbeing in and around buildings, BuildingMinds and Schindler have set up a lighthouse project that makes an abstract vision concrete reality: The digitalization of Schindler Innovation Campus buildings in Berlin.
This exceptional effort involved the installation of 500 sensors and the interlinking of millions of data points. Every bit of previously isolated information is harmonized through a Common Data Model and integrated in a Digital Building Twin on a cloud-based platform, making it possible to track all relevant parameters over time in near real-time. This outstanding combination enables countless new use cases, from workspace optimization and operations cost reduction to emission reductions and employee well-being.
A project scope to future-proof corporate real estate
Tenants, employees and stakeholders increasingly expect sustainability and state-of-the-art experiences in and around buildings. The only way to meet these requirements is to analyze, report and enhance space and service utilization, well-being, health, and productivity factors, as well as energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. The collaboration between Schindler and BuildingMinds aims at creating a holistic, data-driven foundation that facilitates the generation of all relevant strategic insights:
- Creation of a Digital Building Twin with 3D BIM model and drill-down function to individual equipment
- Data harmonization through the Common Data Model for Real Estate
- Integration of third-party systems
- Near real-time IoT sensor tracking on space and equipment utilization
- Energy monitoring and well-being KPI tracking such as illumination, humidity, air quality
A revolutionary step in Schindler real estate
Connecting all data points of a single building enables unprecedented efficiency potential. Connecting an entire portfolio of hundreds of buildings unfolds the potential to exponentially increase value – and to sustainably reshape the future of real estate.
